About the project

BMD in a joint venture with Abergeldie Complex Infrastructure and KBR, as the ABK JV, is delivering the Pakenham Wet Weather Storage. This project is part of South East Water’s Integrated Planning and Delivery capital works program, focused on providing sustainable water solutions throughout Melbourne’s south-eastern suburbs.

This upgrade will enhance the hydraulic capacity of the Pakenham Water Recycling Plant to manage peak inflows of up to 750 litres per second, significantly reducing the risk of system overflow during wet weather.

It will minimise the risk of sewer spills by enabling temporary storage of excess sewage during wet weather, while also modernising the plant’s infrastructure to improve overall resilience.

Project scope

Construct a 19.5 million litre wet weather storage facility including two earthen, concrete-lined lagoon storages and associated pump station

Install ancillary valves and pipework to integrate the wet weather storage with the existing gravity network
