BMD has been ranked #20 in the Australian Defence Magazine’s (ADM) Top 40 Defence Contractors for 2025, rising from #26 in 2024, and further strengthening its position as Australia’s largest sovereign-owned civil contractor.

BMD National Head of Defence Travis Wilson said the result reflects the strength and maturity of BMD’s Defence capability and its growing contribution to Australia’s national security outcomes.

“Being recognised in the Top 20 of ADM’s 2025 Defence Contractors list is a strong endorsement of the capability we’ve built and the confidence Defence places in BMD to deliver critical infrastructure where it matters most.

“As Australia’s largest sovereign-owned contractor, our advantage lies in our directly employed engineering and construction workforce, which allows us to self-perform complex and remote projects safely, efficiently and at scale.

“This capability is central to building sovereign resilience, strengthening Defence readiness and supporting Australia’s long-term security and infrastructure needs.

Notably, in 2025, BMD was appointed to the Australian Government’s Defence Infrastructure Panel - Major Construction, responsible for delivering complex infrastructure, specialist facilities and maintenance projects valued at more than $200 million.

This appointment deepens BMD’s collaboration with the Australian Government, Department of Defence and industry partners, further developing the capabilities required to deliver critical Defence infrastructure.
