Empower strengthens leadership expertise with appointment of decorated strategist Grant Mason

With more than 35 years’ service in the Australian Defence Force, and two decades in senior leadership roles in defence across Australia and the UK, Grant recently headed the Australian Defence Staff – London, spearheading the significant transformation and modernisation of the Australia-UK relationship at the introduction of AUKUS.

With his appointment to Empower, Grant will grow Empower’s business in the UK, which was established in 2022 to align with the long-term objectives of the BMD Group’s Towards 2032 strategy.

BMD Group CEO Scott Power said Grant’s experience will be invaluable to the strategic growth of the Group’s defence portfolio and UK operations.

“Grant’s an outstanding leader whose experience spans a broad range of senior strategy roles across Australian Government. Grant’s leadership and organisational experience will strengthen our UK consultancy business and enhance Australian and UK relationships across our work in the transport, water, nuclear energy and defence sectors,” he said.

“Our business is built on strong partnerships, and Grant’s appointment reflects our commitment to working close with defence and industry partners to achieve long-term outcomes within Australia and the UK.”

In his first appointment to a privately owned business, Grant said this step is a natural continuation of serving Australia and its allies, building capability, trust and resilience through a diverse range of products and markets.

Grant will work closely with Empower General Manager - Australia Peter Anusas, positioning Empower as a preferred service advisory firm in Australia and the UK.
