BMD is furthering its commitment to building long-term, meaningful partnerships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses with the implementation of a dedicated First Nations Business Guide. It is designed to empower First Nations businesses through the tendering and pricing processes to secure work opportunities on BMD projects.

As Australia’s leading integrated engineering, construction and urban development business, BMD seeks to make an impact beyond infrastructure projects delivered with a commitment to reconciliation aligned with a purpose of power futures and create legacies.

BMD General Manager Corporate Affairs Katie O’Malley said the guide is about engagement, communication, collaboration and transparency. It outlines BMD’s internal strategies that support employment, procurement and capacity-building opportunities.

"At BMD, we recognise the critical role we play in the community through opportunities on our projects. Through this guide, we provide transparency and guidance for small to medium First Nations businesses in partnering to create lasting, positive outcomes together."

The guide is part of BMD’s Stretch Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), which commits to supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander-owned businesses through local procurement, with a target of 5% or more of all controllable procurement spend.

BMD’s Stretch RAP reflects a deepened commitment to embedding reconciliation into every part of the business and ensuring it remains a strategic priority.

First Nations businesses interested in working with BMD are encouraged to express their interest by completing an EOI form.
