BMD is joining Brisbane Powerhouse as the Presenting Partner of PowerPlay, a new free community program designed to inspire creativity, curiosity and hands-on learning among children and families.

Delivered through workshops, events and cultural experiences, PowerPlay encourages young people to explore the world around them through design, imagination and STEM-inspired learning.

The program launched on Saturday 4 July with archiKIDS, a workshop led by international architects and designers that invited children to explore the built environment through play and discovery.

More than 600 parents and children participated in the opening day, taking part in hands-on activities focused on architecture, design and creativity. Families also had the opportunity to explore BMD’s Big Match Digger and learn more about the people and projects helping shape their city.

BMD Group Executive Director - People and Process Dare Power said the partnership aligned with BMD’s commitment to powering futures and creating enduring legacies.

“As a business that delivers infrastructure to transform and connect communities, BMD is pleased to support a program that introduces children to the creativity, teamwork and innovation involved in designing, engineering and constructing the places around us,” he said.

“PowerPlay creates an opportunity for young people to explore new ideas, think differently and discover what’s possible, helping inspire the next generation of innovators and problem-solvers.”

BMD’s support is helping Brisbane Powerhouse deliver the program free to the community, making these enriching creative experiences accessible to more children and families.

The workshops will run throughout 2026, with further sessions scheduled for Saturday 26 September and Saturday 5 December.
