Port to REZ Project – Port of Newcastle to Elong Elong
About the project
The Port to Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) project consists of upgrades and modifications at 19 locations spanning more than 300 kilometres from the Port of Newcastle to Elong Elong, along the New England, Golden and Castlereagh Highways.
The works will enable the safe and efficient movement of oversize over-mass (OSOM) vehicles carrying critical renewable energy infrastructure, including wind turbine components, high-voltage transformers and synchronous condensers.
By improving access along this key transport corridor, the project will support the delivery of transmission and generation infrastructure within the Central-West Orana Renewable Energy Zone, helping strengthen the region's renewable energy network.
