BMD, in collaboration with Main Roads Western Australia, has successfully completed the construction of Belmont Park Bridge and surrounding road upgrades, delivering critical infrastructure to support the long-term transformation of the Burswood Peninsula.

Delivered as part of the broader $30 million Burswood Point Redevelopment (jointly funded both by the State Government and private developer, Golden Sedayu), the project improves accessibility and prepares the precinct for future growth, including new housing, public spaces and increased event traffic around Optus Stadium.

The works included the construction of a new 72 metre, 4-span, T-Roff pedestrian bridge across the Graham Farmer Freeway, significantly improving the accessibility between Burswood Park, Belmont Park Racecourse and adjacent destinations.

Key upgrades included:

  • structural modifications and strengthening of the Victoria Park Drive Bridge to remove the existing footpath and create an additional southbound traffic lane
  • construction of Seabiscuit Drive to enable the permanent closure of Goodwood Parade westbound, supporting a safer and more efficient road layout
  • intersection upgrades at Saintly Entrance and modifications to traffic signals and lane configurations
  • enhancements to lighting, pedestrian facilities, drainage and road safety barriers
  • the safe management and disposal of asbestos-containing materials (ACM).

Now open to the public, these upgrades will help accommodate increasing traffic volumes and create safer, more efficient connections between some of Perth’s key destinations, supporting the broader vision for the $3.8 billion Burswood Point precinct.
