Constructionarium lands in Victoria
In partnership with Constructionarium, Major Road Projects Victoria (MRPV), Arcadis and BMD, the Victorian pilot program, is located at Kallibr’s training centre in Maidstone commenced today until 10 June 2022. 20 early-stage professionals and undergraduates will take part in the eight-day training and development program - from tender to client handover and delivered under conditions as close to those they will experience throughout their careers.
Over the first three days participants will cover the latest construction theory including Lean Methodologies, BIM and Digital Engineering. Participants will then undertake a five-day real build of the Victorian Bridge, a unique prefabricated structure commissioned to be the centrepiece of the program in Victoria, where they will learn about key project phases such as tendering and construction as well as key aspects including safety management.
Weighing in at 12.5 tonnes, 25 metres long and 4 metres wide, the structure will test participants who will need to overcome challenges to successfully deliver the structure in time and on budget.
This year, BMD Constructions Stakeholder Engagement and Communications Manager VIC/SA/TAS, Tanya Barmby joined Constructionarium as a Board member, alongside other leaders in the construction and infrastructure sector.
Tanya said it’s been a privilege joining the Board and being involved in the development of the Victorian pilot build, after seeing the success of Constructionarium in Brisbane.
"This hand-on learning experience provides an opportunity to those newly entering Victoria’s civil construction industry to learn about the project life cycle in a safe environment.""We hope that this first Victorian build will be the catalyst for longer-term support of Constructionarium in the state and inspire the next generation of infrastructure, engineering and construction professionals.”We would like to thank all supporting partners for their involvement in the build including Jaybro, InfraBuild, Holcim, Coates, Bestfab and Glen Hester Photography.
