BMD has teamed up with the Queensland Academy of Sport (QAS) to provide meaningful employment opportunities for athletes through its Dream Twice program.

Building on a shared commitment and strategy to empower high performance on the runway to Brisbane 2032, BMD has joined the Dream Twice program. The initiative helps prepare QAS supported athletes for life outside of work through flexible job opportunities across BMD Group’s businesses.

QAS Director of Partnerships Jessica Walker said BMD is a valuable partner, with its own athlete employment program reflecting a strong commitment to supporting athletes and recognising their off-field potential.

“Athletes are at the heart of everything we do at QAS, and this partnership with BMD creates meaningful pathways for them to grow beyond the sporting arena,” Ms Walker said.

“BMD’s values of family, empowered, collaborative and driven strongly align with the high-performance culture we foster in sport.

“This partnership gives athletes the opportunity to apply their strengths, learn new skills, and thrive in every stage of their journey.”

BMD Group Executive Director of People and Process Dare Power echoed Ms Walker’s enthusiasm for the partnership.

“Athletes bring discipline, drive and a strong team mindset – qualities that align with our values and contribute to success across our project sites and corporate teams,” Mr Power said,

“We’re excited to support their journey both on and off the field as they explore career pathways beyond sport.”

As part of Team BMD, the athletes will continue to train and compete at an elite level, while also gaining valuable professional skills, experiences, and networking opportunities that will support their personal growth beyond their athletic careers.

This partnership builds on BMD’s high performing teams’ mantra and its strong track record of supporting major sporting and community clubs across Australia.

Mirroring the goals of the Dream Twice program, BMD’s Athlete Employment program, which was introduced in 2023, is strengthening the company’s national corporate partnerships by offering dual careers or flexible employment opportunities.

BMD has eight major partnerships across the Australian sporting landscape in the Brisbane Lions, Western Sydney Wanderers, BMD Northcliffe Surf Life Saving Club, North Queensland Cowboys, Melbourne Vixens, Queensland Rugby League, BMD Rumble and Perth Scorchers, with many more at grassroots level.

These partnerships are a testament to BMD’s commitment to powering futures and creating lasting legacies by making a tangible difference through active engagement and meaningful contributions in the communities where it operates.
