BMD proudly supports Port Lincoln Clontarf Academy

As a proud partner of the Clontarf Foundation, BMD recently assisted the not-for-profit organisation during their establishment into South Australia by providing in-kind support through the supply of work space in BMD’s Adelaide office.

In 2019, the Clontarf Foundation launched four academies in the state, including in Port Lincoln where BMD is currently undertaking the Liverpool Street Stormwater Pump Station Upgrade project for client, City of Port Lincoln, and which is being co-funded by the South Australian Government through the Stormwater Management Authority.

BMD facilitated a visit to the Eyre Street Stormwater Pump Station project which provided the students an opportunity to undertake a tour of a construction project and learn about the different occupations that are required to help build Australia’s infrastructure.

The students had the opportunity to hear from BMD employees, the project’s Superintendent, Tonkin and an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander subcontractor who spoke about his positive experience working with BMD on the project.

BMD also facilitated an introduction between the Clontarf Foundation and local construction contractor, EP Civil & Earthmoving to further increase opportunities for Clontarf students and graduates to undertake work experience within the civil construction industry.

BMD and Clontarf’s relationship is underpinned by each organisation’s shared belief in the value of long-term investment in capacity building for young Aboriginal men, the results of which will benefit the individual students as well as the local and broader community.
